Sony Ericsson India today launched 8 new high-technology handsets.The new handsets includes the P1i smart phone with 3 way-input and Business Card Scanner; 3 new Walkman phones — the W580i with shake control technology, the W910i with SensMe technology, and the music phone W960i; the K810i and the K850i Cyber-shot phones with 5MP and Photo-Fix features; the Emotive series — the T650i and the S500i with features ‘inspired by nature’. The P1i smart phone features a GPS application, BlackBerry support, business card scanner, and three-way text input via touchscreen keyboard, QWERTY Keyboard, and handwriting recognition.The P1i costs Rs 25,000; the W580i Rs 14,000; the K810i Rs 17,000; and the S500i Rs 14,000.
* Sony Ericsson’s new Walkman phones; the W580i, the W910i, and the W960i, offer advanced technology including Shake Control, SensMe, and high capacity music storage.
* The two new Cybershot phones; the K810i and the K850i offer features including BestPic, PictBridge, and PhotoFix, allowing users click high quality images. The typical Cybershot user interface (UI) features dedicated camera keys, auto focus, and a Xenon Flash.
* Finally, the new Emotive series — the S500i and the T650i, is meant for individuals who love indulgence and pampering, according to Sony Ericsson.Inspired by nature, the handsets feature illumination effects and themes that can be customized as seasons change or the day turns into night.To make this series even more self-indulgent, Sony Ericsson is offering a special Body Shop product with every purchase of the S500i.

Motorola and Tata Teleservices Ltd have launched MOTO Q in India. Based on a QUALCOMM multimedia platform chipset, MOTO Q runs on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system. MOTO Q offers built-in multimedia functionality and Bluetooth stereo music streaming and is pre-loaded with the full-length Bollywood movie Dus, five MP3 songs and customised wallpapers. MOTO Q also offers integrated Bluetooth 1.2 wireless technology with stereo profile support. Key features of MOTO Q include integrated 1.3 megapixel camera with video playback and capture; thumbwheel; support for all standard desktop document views; support for various audio and video formats; and dual, stereo-quality speakers.
The MOTO Q handset launched by Tata Teleservices can be availed on the Business Platinum 649 plan. Under this offer, subscribers will enjoy free monthly data usage of up to 512 MB. Additionally, subscribers will get Rs 150 worth of free local calling. At Rs 19,999, the offer comes along with a 512-MB miniSD card with pre-loaded content as well as an additional high-capacity (1640mAH) battery.

Bharti Airtel, the country’s top mobile player, on Monday increased long distance tariffs for its prepaid and postpaid mobile customers in Delhi region by up to 32 per cent with effect from August 1. Airtel said in a public notice it has increased STD rates to the Airtel network to Rs 2.65 from Rs 2 for prepaid customers and to Rs 2.40 from Rs 2 for postpaid subscribers. However, Bharti said the changes would not be applicable to customers who have availed lifetime validity, easy lifetime validity, Airtel Yuva card or Airtel Youth pack. The new tariffs would also not be applied to users who have subscribed to Airtel connections in the last six months till such time they complete six months and have not availed any discount pack.
